Exciting news, our first commercial kit is almost ready!
We’ve designed an entirely through hole mechanical keypad that we’re calling dmk20 (DIY Mechanical Keyboard, 20 keys). With three initial layout options you can have a traditional 17 key numpad, a 4×5 macro pad, or with two you can build a minimal split 40% ortholinear keyboard! Also, because it’s built on the open source qmk there is unlimited flexibility to create multiple layers and allow any key to perform any function you can think of.
The first limited run of boards has already been produced, and all electrical components have arrived, we’re just waiting on the last of the mechanical parts to arrive and we’ll package them up into kits for purchase. Price hasn’t been finalised yet but the base kit consisting of a base plate, PCB, electronic components (including pre-programmed microcontroller), and mechanical hardware should be around NZD $45. All you need to add is your choice of mechanical switch (any Cherry MX 5 pin style) and keycaps and you’re set.
We’ll also have a limited number of switches available which we can bundle for a minimal additional cost but want to leave the option open for you to pick your preferred switch (we know how personal this can be).
We’ll update here as soon as kits are available for purchase.
